About the Prize
In December of 2003, Upstage, the English-language amateur theatre group of Berne, proudly announced the Proscenium Prize for One-Act Plays, a prize of 3,000 Swiss Francs. The prize is to be awarded to one, or shared between two original, one-act plays written in English by a writer who is a permanent resident of Switzerland.
The prize will be awarded based on the recommendations of a panel of three judges. Plays will be read between February 29 and May 31, 2004. All submissions must be in original English - no translations will be considered. Author nationality is irrelevant. If the judges deem no play or plays to be of sufficient merit, the prize will not be awarded.
In addition to awarding the prize money, Upstage reserves the right to a one-time performance of the winning play or plays.
