Play Reading: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Ann Sonneville and Clint Sheffer

Friday, June 11, 2021 - 18:30
Rosengarten in Bern

We invite you to our June play reading which will be held in the Rosengarten in Bern (weather permitting)

When: Friday 11th June at 18:30
Where: Rosengarten Park (outdoors), Bern
Hosted by: Max Protzen

Synopsis
We join the prolific naturalist Professor Arronax, his devoted assistant Conseil and the gritty harpooner Ned Land for an epic journey aboard the Nautilus, the world's first submarine vessel. Forcefully led by the dangerous and enigmatic Captain Nemo on an unprecedented tour of the seven seas, our three heroes are confronted by harrowing challenges, incredible adventure, and a host of most unusual creatures. They must also wrestle with the dark forces that lurk in the depths of men's souls if they are ever to return home alive.

The cast is a minimum of 10 people. There are four leading characters: Captain Nemo, Arronax, Conseil, and Ned Land.

One should not put much consideration to the traditional genders on the characters. This play has been written to make switching the gender of the characters very easy. In fact, in the original production, Capital Nemo was played by a woman to incredible critical praise.
