Disturbed by her past, embarrassed by her present, and confused about her future, Blanche seeks refuge at her sister’s apartment. Her presence upsets the balance of the household and her aristocratic pretenses infuriate Stanley, Stella’s working-class husband. As Blanche fumbles for love and Stella prepares for motherhood, Stanley exposes the lies and delusions that support Blanche, callously destroying her tenuous hold on reality.
